Teams lose context when communication happens in one app and work in another. You discuss a task in Slack, then search for the decision in chat history, then manually update the status in the tracker. Each switch is a loss of focus and time.
FlowEra solves this by embedding chat directly into the work platform. Conversations are connected to your org structure, tasks, and data.
Why Integrated Chat Matters
A separate messenger creates several problems:
- Lost context — the discussion about a task is separated from the task itself.
- Window switching — constant jumps between apps reduce productivity.
- Information duplication — the same update must be posted in chat and in the tracker.
- No structure — messages get lost in the general stream without project links.
When chat lives inside the platform, messages are automatically tied to the organizational context.
Channels and Direct Messages
FlowEra Chat supports three channel types:
Direct Messages
Private conversations between two people. Click "+" next to the "Direct Messages" section, pick a person, and start talking. If a channel already exists, you land there.
Org Channels
Group channels tied to an org unit — team, department, division. Everyone in the unit automatically sees the channel. This replaces chaotic messenger groups.
Task Threads
Discussions attached to a specific task or work item. When you open a task, the discussion is right there — no need to hunt for the right thread in a general channel.
Threads
Not every discussion deserves its own channel. Threads let you have side conversations without cluttering the main message stream.
Hover over a message and click "Reply." Your reply is linked to the original, and readers can follow the conversation thread.
File Sharing
Drag a file into the chat window or click the attachment button. Images, documents, and archives are supported. Files are attached to the channel and available for download by all participants.
Reactions and Emoji
Not every message needs a full reply. React to a message — agreement, approval, thanks — with a single click. This reduces unnecessary messages and speeds up communication.
Message Search
When you need to find a discussion from two weeks ago, use search. Full-text search covers all channels available to you. Results show context: channel, date, author.
Integration with Tasks and Workflows
The main advantage of integrated chat is its connection to work context:
- Mentions — @mention a person to draw their attention to a discussion.
- Task channels — discussion is tied to the task, not lost in a general chat.
- Notifications — automatic alerts for new messages, mentions, and replies to your messages.
- Automations — automations can send messages to channels when certain events occur.
Keyboard Shortcuts
For quick navigation:
- Enter — send message.
- Shift+Enter — new line.
- @ — start a mention.
- Esc — cancel reply.
Organizational Binding
FlowEra chat is unique in that channels are tied to the org structure. When you create a channel for a team, all team members automatically get access. When a new employee joins the team, they immediately see all relevant channels.
This eliminates manual channel membership management — a problem familiar to anyone who has administered a Slack workspace.
